HW-Holistic Wellness
This course introduces students to the fundamental techniques and principles of boxing. Students will learn proper stance, footwork, punches, defensive movements, and conditioning exercises integral to the sport of boxing. Each session will focus on building physical fitness, coordination, and mental focus. Completion of this course will enable students to understand the foundational skills of boxing and incorporate them into a lifelong fitness routine.

Prerequisite: Completion of English Composition core or permission of instructor
Learning to harness one’s focus on a day-to-day basis to improve one’s quality of life and life experiences demonstrates the great power of the mind. Through readings, lectures and exercises, students will explore healthy ways to promote personal well-being and practical tools to alleviate stress and anxiety, gain clarity, navigate life changes, and become successful according to their identified goals. Students will learn to create healthy habits and productive practices, take ownership of personal/academic challenges and their self-care routines, and engage in consistent self-reflection to gain the awareness to achieve personal successes. Students will engage in interactive exercises and with guest speakers to hone their communication skills and facilitate self-acceptance.

Students will learn proper stance, footwork, striking techniques (punches and kicks), defensive movements, and conditioning exercises integral to the sport of kickboxing. Each session will focus on building physical fitness, coordination, and mental focus. Completion of this course will enable students to understand the foundational skills of kickboxing and incorporate them into a lifelong fitness routine.

This course provides an exploration of coaching theories and leadership strategies in athletic and sports settings. Students will examine principles of coaching, leadership styles, communication skills, and decision-making strategies as they apply to coaching and team leadership. Practical applications of leadership theory and behavior in various athletic contexts will be explored.
