4PLUS Program In Any Major and Health Informatics
Program Overview
This 4PLUS program is designed for highly motivated students who have the desire to build career options into their undergraduate curriculum and earn a master's degree in Health Informatics (HIFX). Hood students from all majors are eligible to participate in this 4PLUS program that allows for a combined, and in some cases accelerated, mater's degree in HIFX after the completion of their undergraduate program. The program is especially relevant to students majoring in health sciences, computer science or business, but it is also available to students from other disciplines.
Foundation Courses
All students must complete certain foundation courses designed to provide the appropriate background knowledge. Undergraduate courses that are used to meet the foundations must be completed with a grade of B- or better.
Students majoring in computer science or a health-related field may be exempt from the HIFX foundation courses if they have completed before beginning graduate courses the following (or equivalent) undergraduate courses:
- CS 100 Applied Computing I
- CS 200 Applied Computing II
- CS 201 Computer Science I
- NUR 407 Informatics and Health Care Informatics
Students not majoring in health or computer science must complete the foundation course in addition to the 30 credits required for the HIFS degree: CSIT 512 or BIFX 502.
