NUR 204 Pharmacology
Prerequisities: BIOL 104, BIOL 204, CHEM 100 or CHEM 101, and PSY 101; or permission of instructor
The course is an applied science and builds on foundational sciences such as biology, chemistry, microbiology, anatomy, and physiology. Principles of pharmacology will be discussed, including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and toxicities. Major pharmacologic classes of drugs that are used to treat diseases, illnesses and support of organ and system functions are explored. The basic implications of pharmacology mechanism of action, medication safety, considerations across the lifespan, and dosage calculations are discussed.
