An introduction to writing for various publics using a variety of formats within the contexts of informing, persuading and entertaining. This course explores the globalization of the mass media from Disney to Bollywood, Facebook to TikTok, CNN to the internet. The course provides some historical context and the theoretical framework before delving into a study of the social and economic impact of global mass media. Particular attention will be paid to case studies that illuminate the concepts presented.
