Students with Disabilities
Hood College actively supports the rights of students with disabilities to have equal access to education. In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended in 2008, Hood makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of students with diagnosed disabilities.
Students with a potential need for accommodations must request them through Accessibility Services. Students may request accommodations at any time, but accommodations are not retroactive.Students should complete an accommodation request form and present documentation of a disability from a qualified professional. This documentation should clearly state how the student's disability impacts them and recommended accommodations. Accessibility Services will then meet with the student, and if accommodations are needed, prepare an individualized accommodation letter. The student is responsible for sharing their accommodation letter with their instructors, and for renewing accommodations each academic year as appropriate. Visit the Accessibility Services website at hood.edu/accessibility for more information or contact the Office of Accessibility Services by phone at 301-696-3421 or email at accessibilityservices@hood.edu.
