Includes Celtic population of Roman Empire; "barbarian" kingdoms such as Celtic Ireland and Scotland, Anglo-Saxon England, and Frankish Gaul; Visigothic and Islamic Spain; technological developments; the Carolingian Empire; and Viking invasions.
